Killer Blog Post Ideas that are Proven to Work

  1. Create a Listicle

List articles or listicles are very popular among people and are easy to generate buzz. You can create a list of Top 10, or better a Top 100 list of anything and everything in the world. Listicles are always among the most shared topics in the social media.

Your listicle may contain a list of your favorite movies, books, places to eat, influential people or your favorite gadgets and apps. With endless possibilities, you can create a list of just about anything. Here is an example of a listicle about best selling StudioPress themes.

  1. Tutorials and How-to Guides

Tutorials and how to guides help to drive traffic and convert them into followers. As you are familiar with that topic, so it becomes one of the easiest type of blog post you can work on. If you are skilled in some topics, you can try to help the ones who have less experience in that particular topic.

You can turn any task you are skilled in carrying out or want to learn into a step by step tutorial using smallest steps. Try to include simplest terms with video, photos or screen casts to make it more effective.

  1. Interview Someone

Interviews are extremely popular and are also less time consuming. You can interview an individual who is an important person in your area and you believe will be of interest of your readers.

You may ask them to share useful and practical tips or their insights on what’s coming next in your industry. Your readers would love to read their experience and expertise. Checkout our Blogger’s Interview Series to get an idea.

  1. Reviews

People are always looking for honest reviews before purchasing any product or service. You can write a review for the latest gadget or service you have bought. Your experience on a particular restaurant, hotel, new website, e-book, cosmetic, new film or TV show can be handy to someone else.

Documenting the pros and cons of a product and recommendations can bring in lot of traffic to your blog. Here’s an example of a good review article.

  1. Checklist

Checklists are very simple to create. Everyday we make a list of many things like a to-do list, grocery list and many more. You can take a common task and break it down into short, actionable items.

For example you can read this checklist of things before publishing a blog post where all that needed for the perfect blog post publishing is listed down. Your checklist can help others to get started.

  1. Guest Post

Guest post is a great alternative when you are going for a vacation or out of blog post ideas. A good guest blogger can serve your purpose with some great content. But make sure to make it invitation basis only.

You can reach out to bloggers in your niche and ask them whether they would like to guest post for your blog. In this way you can save your time while getting an opportunity to network with others and receive traffic from their blogs.

  1. Latest Industry News

Writing about the latest news is an awesome way to generate some new subscribers for your blog. People always look for latest and trending topics to keep them updated. You can search for some of the most recent topics in your industry and write blog posts about them.

For example if you are a tech blogger, you can write about the latest apps and gadgets. If you wish, you can also add your views opinions about that topic.

  1. Advice from Experts

Experts’ advices are easier to compile and are more likely to go viral. You can reach out to few influential people in your niche and capture their responses for a single topic or question.

  1. Beginner’s Guides

Beginner’s guides are very popular as everyday many newbies are hitting this blogosphere and want to start their journey smoothly. By creating a beginner’s guide with some easy actionable steps you can attract huge traffic while building an authority.

  1. Recycle Old Posts

Recycling older posts is a very good practice from the search engine point of view. It gives your old posts the required exposure they are supposed to get. Time to time make your posts updated with latest stats, trends and better images to make them more useful to your readers.

You can also take the help of Google analytics and check out which posts have performed better. 1. Post on Interesting Customer Question

This is one such blog post idea which I came to know about when Cent M made a complete new article out of my one comment in his blog post. Make a blog post answering a customer question and share with your readers how this post can help them. You can also include the customer comment and your response to that.

  1. Quizzes, Surveys and Polls

Everyone enjoys quizzes. So you can try to create an interesting quiz for your readers where they can also compare their results with others. This gives them the sense of smartness. Also make sure to include the social sharing buttons at the bottom of your quiz, so that people can share and invite their friends to take part.

Surveys and polls are also somewhat similar to quizzes. But here the benefits are yours as you can check the responses of your readers and find out what is performing well for them. It also helps to get new ideas and if any improvement is needed for your blog.

    • Hey Karthik,

Welcome to my space. It’s great to hear that you have started your blogging journey with a serious note. Tutorials and how tos are always a great way to show your authority while bringing some good traffic to your blog. Though tutorials are sometimes sufficient enough to serve their purpose within just 400 words, but for how tos, try to make it an elaborated one with all needed resources like images, screenshots etc.

For interviewing someone, the idea is very simple. You just approach your preferred blogger. And if they are interested they will be happy to share their journey with your readers. Thanks for reading through. Take care and have a great day ahead 🙂

  • Hi Manidipa,

Each one on this list works so well. Mix them up and your blog will get plenty of readers. I do see that the best way to get immediate results is doing a Round-Up. When we do this, each person on that roundup will tell their friends they were mentioned. Before you know it….the comments come in like crazy!
