XML Sitemap is one of the most important element of a website, as search engines read a website via that sitemap file only. As a WordPress blogger, you can get your XML sitemap via either Yoast SEO Sitemap plugin or Google XML sitemap plugin.
But, which one is recommended to use? This is one of the basic questions asked by many beginner blogger. Are there really any benefit using Yoast sitemap over Google sitemap or vice versa? Let’s try to find out the answer.
Google XML Sitemap at a glance
Google XML sitemap generator plugin will generate a clean sitemap URL, that many of us are already aware about. And even for search engine also its the typical one.

By default you will find basic and recommended settings were selected. You don’t have to do anything. Simply use the sitemap and submit into webmaster tools.
Yoast SEO Sitemap at a glance
Yoast SEO plugin is the best WordPress SEO plugin. Without Yoast SEO plugin, you can’t live a single day. So, how can we doubt about their sitemap feature?
Yoast SEO plugin generates a different type of XML sitemap URL. Unlike Google, Yoast SEO plugin will generate various different sitemap URL for posts, media, categories, tags etc.

With Yoast SEO plugin, one can use specific sitemaps for posts, categories, tags etc and submit to WBT. This is beneficial for websites like Coupon or Deals sharing where you may not be interested to share thin content coupon pages.
Yoast SEO Sitemap vs Google Sitemap plugin
Frankly speaking, whatever is the sitemap url is, Google will treat it in a similar way only. From search engine point of view, its the same thing. When Yoast may provide you some more control while submitting your sitemap to search engines, with Google sitemap generator plugin also one can achieve the same purpose.
But I personally like Google Sitemap Plugin as it generate the standard sitemap url, I.E. sitemap.xml. Don’t worry about the warning message showing in your WordPress dashboard from Yoast SEO plugin, simply disable that message. Or else you can continue with Yoast SEO plugin only. In that case don’t fogret to delete Google plugin, as there is no point to keep this in your database unnecessary.
If you enable both the sitemap plugins, then you will get the warning message in your dashboard. So make sure either you use Google and disable Yoast SEO plugin or vice versa.
